Birthday Party for Laura/X-23

It's a pretty low-key party, all things considered, and not significantly different than the one Parker or Meg would have thrown in a dorm room for a friend at home, not-exactly-traditional menu not withstanding.

There's music, low enough to talk over (and maybe with a little more folk in the mix than one expects to find a party). Balloons and streamers in purple and blue and red. A place to leave presents. People to meet or catch up with.

And, most importantly, a chance to wish X-23 (or Laura) a very happy birthday.

He'd say 'people who don't kill other people for a living', but considering Milliways, that might be the minority.

Also, kind of a downer.

"Well, throwing birthday parties for your friends is a good start, anyway. I hope she likes my present. What the hell do you get the girl who has nothing but doesn't want anything?"

"The fish. She seemed to like having a cactus. Fish pretty much take care of themselves, but I thought she'd get a kick out of taking care of it." He shrugs.

It might even be sort of a metaphor...but he won't admit that.

"Heh. Thanks. He won't clash with her apartment, at least!

"Pretty good variety of people too," Duo says, surveying the room. He's thinking of Ingress' hair, Charlie's face (or lack thereof), and Stitch in particular. Not to mention a couple of people towering over the others (Sam and Cal).

And 494. Meh.

(Join the club, sister. Duo isn't much taller than her on a good day.)

"Me too! And hey, more people should host parties in the bar, I figure. Make this a lot more commonplace."

He spots an opening in the crowd. "I better go pay my respects to the lady of the hour. I'll see you around, Meg. Thanks again."
