Birthday Party for Laura/X-23

It's a pretty low-key party, all things considered, and not significantly different than the one Parker or Meg would have thrown in a dorm room for a friend at home, not-exactly-traditional menu not withstanding.

There's music, low enough to talk over (and maybe with a little more folk in the mix than one expects to find a party). Balloons and streamers in purple and blue and red. A place to leave presents. People to meet or catch up with.

And, most importantly, a chance to wish X-23 (or Laura) a very happy birthday.

Her eyebrows shoot up.

"Not unless Stheno and Euryale were joining me. They'd never let me live it down, otherwise."

"Well, sure," Cal says. "It's more fun with company."

"Like being drunk?"

"Exactly," Cal says. "Definitely less fun by yourself."

Her expression suddenly turns very, very wicked.

"Now that's the truth."

Cal is innocent.

He has no idea what she means, he's sure.

Given that Medusa is actually thinking of the time she got drunk with her triplets in Atlantis, this is...

Probably completely accurate!

Cal lets the silence hang for a moment, then,

". . . So what about you? Have you eaten?"

Just to back up to a few subjects ago.

"Not recently." She glances over at the table.

"...come and help tell me what things are?"

Cal smiles.

"I can do that," he says, and offers her his arm. "Shall we?"

There is a fraction of a moment's hesitation, then she nods and hooks her hand around his elbow.

"Of course."
