Birthday Party for Laura/X-23

It's a pretty low-key party, all things considered, and not significantly different than the one Parker or Meg would have thrown in a dorm room for a friend at home, not-exactly-traditional menu not withstanding.

There's music, low enough to talk over (and maybe with a little more folk in the mix than one expects to find a party). Balloons and streamers in purple and blue and red. A place to leave presents. People to meet or catch up with.

And, most importantly, a chance to wish X-23 (or Laura) a very happy birthday.

X, at least, is easy enough to find in this milling of humans, which is why the Gorgon (wearing glasses as well as her normal flowing skirts and bangles) makes her way over.

X looks pleased. As much as she can, anyway.

"Hello. Thank you."

Beat.

"You are having a good time?"

"There are a few people here I know," she says, aiming for diplomacy and...probably failing. "And no one is screaming, so it works."

Pause.

Right, moving on.

"Are you having fun?"

Beat.

"The music is not very loud. And the lights are not flashing."

Also, X knows everybody, and none of them are pushy or making her do things she does not want to. It is a win.

"And the food is good."

Meg and Parker are awesome party planners. Clearly.

Medusa brightens at this. Good food is always a plus.

"Lovely. I might go and...investigate this. Um. I...made you something. As a present, and I said this on the note, but...if it doesn't fit, let me know and I'll fix it for you."

X looks startled. And pleased.

"Thank you."

Beat.

"I will remember to tell you. If it does not fit."

This pause is longer.

"I do not know if the salad is good. But I like the spaghetti."

Speaking of food--

"You introduced me to spaghetti." She remmebers that much, at least. "Care to have some with me?"

"Okay. You have had garlic bread, too?"

"Sometimes there is cheese, too."

"Cheese and garlic?" She asks, taking a mouthful of the bread.

The bread, she approves of.
