Birthday Party for Laura/X-23
It's a pretty low-key party, all things considered, and not significantly different than the one Parker or Meg would have thrown in a dorm room for a friend at home, not-exactly-traditional menu not withstanding.
There's music, low enough to talk over (and maybe with a little more folk in the mix than one expects to find a party). Balloons and streamers in purple and blue and red. A place to leave presents. People to meet or catch up with.
And, most importantly, a chance to wish X-23 (or Laura) a very happy birthday.

Re: Mingle with the other guests
"Not a big party person?" She has to agree: "It's not so bad, is it? Kind of cozy, lots of personal touches." She grins a little. "It's definitely my first experience with birthday garlic bread."
Re: Mingle with the other guests
It helps that they clash a bit with her hair.
"I'm really not," Alanna laughs. "But I need to remember that parties here aren't full of politics and formal dancing the way they are at home."
She glances at the food table.
"Is that what it is? Odd."
Re: Mingle with the other guests
It just looks kind of funny with birthday candles in it. She's definitely leaving this party with a better idea of what Laura likes than she had when she came in.
"So formal dancing and politics, huh? What kind of place is it you're from?"
Re: Mingle with the other guests
"Tortall." She waves her hand in the air, searching for a word she hasn't used in a long time. "I've been told it's like the medieval era on Earth. Swords, horses, code of chivalry -- that sort of thing. I'm a knight."
