There is a large cloth banner spread across a long table, reading Best Wishes, Meg and Alain in large letters. All along the banner, there are cups of fabric markers in just about every color imaginable.

A tent card invites guests to "leave your good wishes for the happy couple."

James' scrawl is a bit — well, it's not exactly the neatest.

But it's legible, and that's the important bit.

He picks out a deep reddish coloured marker from the pile and writes,

Wishing you both a long and brilliant marriage together. Congratulations.
