Sep. 13th, 2009 09:14 pmK -- Do you remember my mentioning finding a bunch of old knitting patterns in the attic? Mom's grandmother wrote them out for her when she married Dad. This is one of them. I hope you like it. Alain's Tante Ginette helped me find the buttons. Happy (first) Twenty-ninth birthday. -- M
The note is tucked under the ribbon on a neatly wrapped box. Inside the box is a neatly folded wool sweater, wrapped in tissue paper. The cardigan is a pale, clear blue -- the blue of cloudless morning sky -- worked in elaborate cables. There are antique silver buttons down the front, and a small hidden pocket inside, on the right side. (The pocket contains two hair rubber bands. Just in case.)
